Two event Saturday

If it is Saturday, I am somewhere. It appears it is written Grand Lodge Officers shall sacrifice Saturdays to the craft.
Today is a twofer - we begin by being at the Board of General Purposes meeting, held on the campus of Pathways.
I must begin by saying there have been significant changes to the Board, how they do business and their job responsibilities. This group of dedicated men rose to the challenge and are doing a great job. I believe they are governing themselves as Mason do and should, you guys are the best!

Second event - It is Winterfest time! The annual event for DeMolay is being held in Bay City, the Grand Chaplin and I stopped to see the young men.. DeMolay and guests from the entire State gather over the weekend for fun and frolic. Sorry I could not stay for the pie eating contest (no really). Two events in a day take there toll on the old guys..

Ever feel like someone is watching you?

Ceremony

I was honored to be invited to the annual installation of officers at Moslem Shrine. My friend and brother Robert Pate and his leadership team were installed at the event. Brother Pate and I have been friends for more years than either of us care to admit. I think Moslem is in good hands. Thank you Bob for sharing your special day with me. My best to you and Pam.

Temple Association

Well as the thaw begins it is time to venture outside. Tonight is the monthly Temple Association Meeting for 1561 Southfield. The men that come to this meeting are as example of dedicated Masons. I have mentioned in the past I am not sure how they hold this big ole barn up.

Damn it's cold -

The old joke goes, you know it is cold outside, because it is cold outside. Gotta tell you it is cold outside. The Polar Vortex is on us and is not letting go, at least not on our timetable. She will move away when she gets ready I suppose.
I have spoken to a good number of Worshipful Masters and Lodge Secretaries over the last several days. Lodges have been canceling regular communications based on the weather. Each any every one of them mention that "don't want to get our guys hurt" or something close to that. The sentiment was always the same they were concerned about their members. Bravo! We are good guys.

Auld Lang...

New Year's Eve an evening where aged Grand Masters should be home in bed. Not this guy it is my turn in the barrel. I am doing security for a hall rental at Lincoln Park Ionic. The President of the Temple Association is awake way past his bedtime.  AND just were do these party goers get this energy this late in the day, yikes. The concept of sleep looks really good now!  12/31/2013
